Bark Beetles are on a Rampage! How many trees have you lost in
the last two years? With hurricane damage the trees were weakened
and Bark beetle populations have soared. University of Florida
Entomologists say this year they have seen the greatest Bark Beetle
population in over 20 years. Don't lose another tree, try
our four step program to prevent future losses!
- Spray key trees and trap areas for Bark Beetle. This spray
will kill beetles in the tree and prevent future attack for up
to six months.
- Set up and monitor Beetle traps daily.
- Fertilize weak trees with Emeraldtree.
- Remove dead trees (if recently killed).
Costs - Steps one and two.
You Spray:
Insecticide Spray: Most golf courses do NOT have equipment capable
of reaching the crown of a mature tree. We will rent you the needed
equipment.
Daily Applicator Rental: $800.00
Deposit and
delivery will be extra. Deposit credited to rental upon return
of equipment less fair wear and tear.
We will provide operational instruction prior to club's personnel

C. up to 280 trees -----------------------$7,000.00
D. Larger numbers of trees --per tree ----$23.00
Chemical Costs:
We recommend Onyx Insecticide as it has a high insect
mortality, a good residual (six or more months) and additionally,
a very low toxicity to humans. Pro Source One Chemical Company
has agreed to offer excellent pricing. Contact Chad Burkett @ 772-260-8660.
Your club may buy the chemicals directly. We also recommend Pro
sources' AD-100 surfactant as it helps in penetrating the tree
bark.
Chemical Cost per tree: $5.25
Spraying rates will vary from 30-50 trees per hour with average
personnel. The insecticide is extremely safe and will provide no
risk to applicators. ( Short of drinking large quantities).
Bark Beetle Traps
The Traps are placed in groups
of three and are baited with an attractant specific to the three
kinds of beetles found in the area. Care must be taken in placing
of traps to achieve maximum coverage and efficacy. We will need
your help in trap placement.
Eighteen to thirty-six traps are required for each
18 holes (depending upon the number of trees in danger). Please
contact us for pricing.
Pheromone Lures:
The lures for the traps are specific for the three
species of bark beetles we have in our area: The Small Southern
Pine Engraver (Ips avulsus), The Eastern five-Spined Engraver (Ips
grandicollis), and the Eastern Six Spined Engraver (Ips calligraphus).
The lures are two fold lures---sex and food---both, I am sure you
will agree are powerful attractants.
The costs of the lures will
be $65.00 plus sales tax
18 traps with lures-cost - $3,500.00+ sales tax
36 Traps with lures-costs -$6,800.00 + sales tax
Total costs will
be dependent upon the number of trees treated and the area to be
protected.
EmeraldTree is not an insecticide and it will not kill Bark Beetles.
EmeraldTree will produce a healthy tree capable of resisting normal
insect pressure. Right now the pressure is extraordinary and unless
additional help is provided Bark Beetles can take your trees. Many
courses have already taken major losses.
We have tried many injectable
insecticides and they have not provided the degree of performance
we feel we need.
This treatment has the highest chance of success of any treatment
currently available and the traps alone may be sufficient to ward
off future Beetle attacks. The traps have already been successfully
used on golf courses. The infestation rates are so severe at this
time to preclude the use of traps alone.
